Rubin Community Center, Yeruham (1998 -2003)

The Rubin Community Center in Yeruham is part of a cultural complex in the center of the town containing a Conservatorium, a Library, a Youth Club (designed also by our office) and a large park between them.

                

The program of the Community Center consists of rooms for group activity, a theatre hall, a dance studio, a multimedia room, and classes for day-care center, surrounding a central patio, suitable to desert climate.

 

The design language is characterized by two of our typical elements: the 'cutting wall' emphasizing functional areas of the building, creating drama and contrast; and the combination of local stone with metal and glass, contrasting between 'solidity' and 'lightness'.
