Kikar (Piazza) Noah in Givatayim (2016)

Our challenge in this project is to convert a wide transit intersection into a piazza, an open space for accessible public encounters with attractive community focuses, a pleasant recreation space for the whole city of Givatayim.

The target is to create as much as possible public open space at a comfortable entrance level, secured by extracting private cars, open to pedestrians, bicycles, public transportation and the light rail, the two last protected from the main part of the piazza.

We stretched the open space beyond the limits defined by the surrounding buildings, by including lobbies and intermediate floors, too. The intermediate floors are important in creating intimate areas for workplaces lunch breaks and natural lighting or ventilation for the center of the buildings.

We focus on reviving underground areas for commerce and recreation to contribute to the atmosphere in these places, too.
